The best way to get there is by train from St Ives. As the train leaves Carbis Bay, you get the most incredible view of the beach at Porthkidney Sands. The vastness of it is mind blowing from the train but even more so when you actually set foot on it. It was just sand, sea and sky as far as the eye could see. Heaven.
I just had to try to recreate that in a piece of jewellery. I discovered these incredibly beautiful Amazonite beads and this one, in particular, was so like the colour and grains of the sand, it was uncanny. I paired it with a piece of my handprinted aluminium in bright blue to match the sky. It’s printed with silvery white patterns reminiscent of the clouds. The aluminium has been set in a brushed silver setting and a silver circle with the same finish completes the cluster necklace.
A little piece of Porthkidney Sands to wear whenever you fancy it. If you love Cornwall, the coast or simply one-of-a-kind jewellery in a rather lovely combination of blues and sandy neutrals, this could be the one for you. It would also make a very special handmade gift for someone who feels the same way.
All my jewellery is designed and handmade in my garden studio in Dorset, UK.
Your necklace will arrive beautifully packaged in a gift box made from recycled paper, all ready to treat yourself or give to a loved one.
The amazonite bead is measures approx 14mm in diameter and 4mm deep, the aluminium hand set in silver is approx 10x10x4mm and the silver circle is approx. 9 mm in diameter. The necklace comes with an 18” sterling silver ball chain.
