The thing I miss most about Cornwall is being able to wander out from home onto the clifftops and see the sea. One of my favourite spots in St Ives was the Island. Not an island at all, but a headland that shelters the harbour from the Atlantic. You get the most spectacular views from there of that astonishingly blue sea crashing against the rocks.
When I got home, I really wanted to try to capture those colours in my jewellery. I discovered these beautiful round Australian Dragon Blood Jasper beads. This one is that wonderful greeny blue of the sea, but it also has veins of brown and white running through it which reminded me of the rocks. I’ve paired it with an oval of my handprinted aluminium in dark greens and blue to reflect the land. A hammered silver circle completes the cluster necklace.
The bead moves freely so you can see all its different colours and markings, and the aluminium is handprinted on both sides so it looks good whichever way it turns. The three elements move and jangle together as you wear it.
