It will never get old, the sight of a kingfisher zipping up and down the river behind my house. A flash of blue and orange, and then it’s gone. However many times I see one, it always makes me smile.

I couldn’t resist bringing that colour combination into my jewellery. These earrings are handmade from silver and hand dyed aluminium. Alongside the bright orange, I’ve used both the darker teal and turquoise blue you find in the kingfisher’s feathers alternating them in each earring. The earrings dangle beautifully from the handmade silver studs which I’ve given a brushed finish to.

They’d look great against navy or cream, or with a simple top that lets those kingfisher colours do the talking. A lovely gift for someone who enjoys jewellery inspired by nature, or a treat for yourself if that’s you.

The round silver studs are 9mm in diameter and the oval discs are each 14x10 and 8x6mm and the drop is approx 32mm.
